Glaschu Gaels GFC

Glaschu Gaels GFC was formed in 1999 after the amalgamation of two local sides, Glencovitt Rovers and Paisley Gaels.

Both clubs at that time were struggling and the decision was taken combine both clubs. Matched resources and the expertise of such GAA stalwarts, such as Paul Gallagher, Jimmy Kelly, Michael Hollinger and Charlie McCluskey, saw the new club spread its wings very quickly.

Success has been important off the pitch as well on it. We have received substantial and wothwhile support from our sponsors while the establishment of a ladies team, coupled with work continuing at college/university level will see the club further improve its foundations.

The club have also taken part in recent high profile friendly games against the Derry and Down senior squads as well as the ‘Underdogs’ team managed by Jarlath Burns which will certainly stand the club in good stead for the future.

We also have a thriving social side to the club where the saying 'work hard, play hard' has never been more appropriate! This stands us well also on the field of the play with a strong bond obvious throughout the club.

On the pitch, Glaschu are  the most successful club in Scotland despite our young age ! We are currently Scottish Champions in both the Mens and Ladies championships. We have also won thirteen competitions (not including two ladies competition triumphs) in the last six years and we hope even more will follow.
